ABC's of EMDR with Children & Youth In-person Course
The eight-phase three-prong standard EMDR protocol is usually the most proficient way to facilitate EMDR. However, in certain circumstances and with certain special populations modifications can be used so long as the goal of the phase or prong is achieved. EMDR In Session: The ABC’s of EMDR With Children & Youth, Building Up from the Basics is an entry level EMDR training that emphasizes the importance of understanding the standard EMDR protocol before making modifications for the special population of children and youth. It emphasizes the importance of the development of the EMDR therapist as a factor in becoming effective in working with children and youth. The training reviews the eight phases and three prongs of the standard EMDR protocol and gives examples of modifications for each phase and prong when working with children and youth which guides the EMDR therapist to strategically prepare children to face upcoming challenges as they move through the EMDR phases. There is an extended Phase 2: Preparation portion that's highly experienctial. The training reviews, practices and gives several practical take-away activity resources to participants for each phase. Participants will leave the course with a direction and template to begin and be successful facilitating EMDR with children and youth.
